BLAIR: The Best Tunable White Light
The STORM XT52's BLAIR (Blue/Lime/Amber/Indigo/Red) light engine delivers top-quality white light with the widest CCT range and +/- Green adjustment of any high-output LED fixture. Its indigo emitters bring out fluorescing materials just like natural daylight and tungsten.
It is also the brightest LED point-source fixture in the industry: 41,900 lux at 5m with a 35° reflector, more than a 6,000W HMI.
Color Tuning Control With HSIC+ and x,y
The BLAIR light engine can also reach saturated colors across more than 70% of the Rec. 2020 color space using Limited HSIC+ and x,y modes, for deep crimson sunsets, rich sodium-vapor ambers and subtle color effects without gels.
The STORM XT52 is more than twice as powerful as any other point-source color light.
Smallest Size and Lowest Weight in Class
The STORM XT52 lamp head weighs 27.80kg (61.29lbs), so one person can lift it and run it on a standard crank stand. The XT52 Control Box is the size of a briefcase and weighs just 13.40kg (29.54lbs).
XT52 Lamp Head: 27.80kg (61.29lbs), 550 x 353 x 362mm (21.7 x 13.9 x 14.3in)
XT52 Control Box: 13.40kg (29.54lbs), 411 x 159.5 x 388mm (16.2 x 6.3 x 15.2in)
Extend Your Reach
Extend the 7.5m head cable up to 45m. Put the lamp head in a cherry picker and keep the control box on the ground to save weight and keep the physical controls close. The STORM XT52 runs at full brightness on standard 6,500W generators.
Built Rugged and Easy to Service
The STORM XT52 is IP65 weather protected across the entire system, from the control box and cables to the lamp head and even the modifiers.
Its ruggedized build is made for the toughest environments, and the modular internal design makes servicing quick and easy.
Runs Full Power Off of Popular Generators
The STORM XT52 is easy to use anywhere. It draws 5,200W at full power, so it runs on popular 6,500W generators.
With the head cables extended to 45m the draw can rise to 6,000W, and a menu setting lets you cap the maximum power so your generator or power source is never overloaded.
High Power Light for High-Speed Photography
The STORM XT52 is flicker-free at any frame rate at 20% brightness or higher. With its huge output and the quality of the BLAIR light engine, it is ideal for high-frame-rate work, from big action stunts to food and product shots.

Why is it called STORM XT52?
Why is it called STORM XT52?
It uses the same BLAIR light engine as the STORM 1200x and follows on from the Electro Storm XT26. X means bi-color (crossing from one CCT to another), T means tint (+/- Green) control, and 52 is its 5200W draw at full brightness on 220V with the standard 7.5m head cable.
Why are there multiple maximum power ratings?
Why are there multiple maximum power ratings?
First, voltage: on 100–179V it is limited to 3200W (about 10% brighter than the Electro Storm XT26), while on 180–240V it draws 5200W at full brightness with the standard 7.5m cable. Second, cable length: with 45m of head cables it can draw up to 6000W. A menu setting lets you cap the maximum draw to suit your power source.
Can I power it from 110V?
Can I power it from 110V?
Yes. On 110V it runs at 3200W, about 10% brighter than the Electro Storm XT26.
Can I run it on a 6500W generator?
Can I run it on a 6500W generator?
Yes. With the standard 7.5m head cable at full brightness on 220V it draws less than the continuous output of popular 6500W–7000W generators. If you extend the cables to 45m, use the power-limit menu so the generator isn't overloaded.
Why is the head cable limited to 45m?
Why is the head cable limited to 45m?
Longer cables build up more resistance, which turns into heat. Going further would have made the control box, cables and connectors much bigger and heavier, so Aputure settled on 45m after consulting rigging gaffers.
How is it both a white light and a color fixture?
How is it both a white light and a color fixture?
The five-color BLAIR engine gives excellent tunable white from 2,500K to 10,000K with full +/- Green, and can also be used in Limited HSIC+ or x,y modes to dial in saturated colors across 70% of Rec. 2020.
Why is it called Limited HSIC+?
Why is it called Limited HSIC+?
BLAIR is optimized for high-output, high-quality white light first. Its color range (70% of Rec. 2020) is a little smaller than Aputure's RGBWW and BLAIR-CG lights, so the more conservative 'Limited HSIC+' name is used.
What is the indigo emitter for?
What is the indigo emitter for?
It outputs a calibrated near-UV light that makes certain materials fluoresce, just as they do under daylight and tungsten. This helps STORM lights match natural light accurately. The level is very low, less than a household tungsten bulb.
Why a lime emitter instead of green?
Why a lime emitter instead of green?
Much of the visible spectrum sits closer to lime than to technical green, so a lime emitter gives more light per watt. That efficiency is part of why the XT52 is so bright while keeping excellent white light.
Why doesn't it use the ProLock mount?
Why doesn't it use the ProLock mount?
Its light-emitting surface is too large for the Bowens size that ProLock is based on. It uses the Aputure mount, which is already secure and also passes power and data to compatible modifiers.
Blackbody vs CIE Daylight?
Blackbody vs CIE Daylight?
Blackbody is the mathematical white-light standard; CIE Daylight adds the slight green shift that the atmosphere gives real daylight above about 4,000K. The XT52 lets you switch between them to match other LEDs or real daylight.
How does it compare to HMIs?
How does it compare to HMIs?
With a narrow reflector it is significantly brighter than a similarly focused ARRI M90, and with medium and wide reflectors it beats 6K HMIs and is much brighter than an ARRI M40. It also offers tunable white (2,500K–10,000K) and color, dims flicker-free down to 20%, needs no strike time, supports DMX and CRMX, and is IP65 rated.
