The Best Tunable White Light
The STORM CS32's white light rivals true tungsten and natural daylight, so it is ready for faces, products and any subject that needs the best tunable white. Its latest-generation BLAIR-CG With Extended Red light engine delivers SSI (P3200) 93 and SSI (CIE D5600) 91, a 1,800K to 20,000K CCT range and the full ASC MITC +/- Green range. Indigo brings out fluorescing materials just like daylight and tungsten, while Extended Red enriches skin tones.
The Greatest Tunable Color Spectrum
The STORM CS32 creates accurate, saturated color with familiar HSIC+, RGB and xy controls. Its BLAIR-CG With Extended Red engine covers more than 90% of the Rec. 2020 color space and closely matches key colors like yellow at any CCT, from deep crimson sunsets and sodium-vapor street scenes to subtle color washes on white light, all without gels.
The Brightest Light From Any Household Outlet
The STORM CS32 is the brightest tunable color point-source light that can run on a household circuit. At its maximum 3200W draw it puts out white light as bright as a 4K HMI or a 10K tungsten fresnel, and in 220V countries like Egypt it runs at full power from a standard 16A circuit.
Multiple Power Options
The STORM CS32 runs at full output anywhere from 100V to 240V. On lower-capacity circuits the Control Box can cap its power draw at 1700W (15A) or 2200W (20A) to protect the circuit, and even then it stays the brightest point-source light for that circuit. The table compares it with STORM 1200x and STORM 1000c at 3m and 5600K.

Portable Yet Powerful
Small and light enough for one person to handle: the lamp head weighs 16.8kg and the control box just 10.8kg. Even with the optional CF16 fresnel and skid it fits fully assembled on truck shelving or a head cart, and the compact, cube-like head lets you rig several CS32s close together into powerful arrays. Extra head cables extend the lamp head up to 45m from the control box, so it can fly high on a crane while the controls stay within reach.

STORM CS32 FAQ
Common questions about the STORM CS32.
Why is it called STORM CS32?
Why is it called STORM CS32?
It belongs to Aputure's STORM series of point-source lights. C marks a color-tunable light, S stands for the full color spectrum it can produce, and 32 refers to its 3200W maximum power consumption.
Why was it designed to be 3200W?
Why was it designed to be 3200W?
At 3200W it runs at full output from a common 220V/16A circuit, works at full power across 100V–240V, stays compact and light, and still outputs far more light than a classic 4K HMI.
Can I power it from 110V and 220V?
Can I power it from 110V and 220V?
Yes. The STORM CS32 runs at full output on anything from 100V to 240V. On lower-capacity circuits the Control Box can limit the draw to 1700W (15A) or 2200W (20A).
How long is the head cable?
How long is the head cable?
A 7.5m head cable is included. An optional 15m head cable is available, and head cables can be connected together to reach up to 45m.
Does it use liquid cooling?
Does it use liquid cooling?
No, the STORM CS32 is air cooled.
Does it emit UV light?
Does it emit UV light?
No. The Indigo emitter works at 405nm, just above where UV-A begins (380nm). It is only strong enough to bring out the natural fluorescence of everyday materials, like real daylight does.
What is the Indigo emitter for?
What is the Indigo emitter for?
It outputs a calibrated violet light that makes certain materials fluoresce and look brighter, just as they do under daylight and tungsten. This helps the STORM lights match natural light more accurately than other LEDs. The level is very low, less than a household tungsten bulb.
BLAIR-CG vs BLAIR-CG With Extended Red?
BLAIR-CG vs BLAIR-CG With Extended Red?
Extended Red splits the red part of the spectrum across several emitter types. This keeps BLAIR-CG's color quality while raising output, giving SSI (P3200) 93 and SSI (CIE D5600) 91.
Can it be used for high-speed filming?
Can it be used for high-speed filming?
Yes. It is flicker-free at any camera frame rate at 5% brightness or higher.
Why doesn't it have a ProLock mount?
Why doesn't it have a ProLock mount?
Its light-emitting surface is too large for the Bowens size that ProLock is based on. It uses the Aputure mount, which is already rock-solid and also carries power and data to compatible modifiers.
Blackbody vs CIE Daylight?
Blackbody vs CIE Daylight?
Blackbody is the mathematical standard for white light; CIE Daylight adds the slight green shift that the atmosphere gives real daylight above about 4,000K. The STORM CS32 lets you switch between them to match other LEDs or natural daylight.
How does it compare to HMIs?
How does it compare to HMIs?
It is significantly brighter than a 4K HMI, and with some modifiers brighter than a 6K HMI. It also offers full tunable white (1,800K–20,000K with +/- Green) and color, dims flicker-free down to 5%, needs no strike time, supports DMX and CRMX, and is IP65 rated.
